Admire the Venetian Castle of the area

The most historical place of Zakynthos island

You must see the renowned hill of Bohali if you visit Zakynthos main town! Of all the neighborhoods of Zakynthos, Bohali is the most picturesque and historically significant. Just two kilometers separate Zakynthos Town from Bochali. In addition to Argasi on the right, the port, neighborhoods, and streets below provide breathtaking views of the island, the sea, and beyond. Bochali offers breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea and Zakynthos Town. Perched atop the hill within a short distance from the village lies the old Castle, built in 1646.

No matter the time of day, you are welcome to come to Bochali and experience its many ambiances. After the Venetians left, it remained the aristocratic neighborhood of the island and the city. You may see traces of this age even in modern times. You may have a leisurely breakfast and coffee while taking in the greatest views of the entire island at the top of the hill in the morning, away from the traffic and congestion in the town center.

Bohalli Village: A Guide

Bohali hill may be reached in a variety of ways. If you are driving alone, the route is easy to follow because there are several signs from the town center. A cab is an option if you do not own a vehicle. Another option is to ride the tiny tourist train from Zante town once you've finished shopping.

Bohali Castle, a Venetian Mansion
The influence of the Mediterranean empire cannot be denied, as Zakynthos was governed for hundreds of years by the Venetians. Take a stroll or take advantage of the stunning picture ops at this park perched on a hilltop. The castle, constructed in the 15th century atop the island's historic acropolis, was subject to many changes and reconstructions even after being robbed by rival Turks or damaged by natural calamities. Archaeological digs at the site are continuing to unearth artifacts from the island's history. Even though the Ionian earthquake of 1953 destroyed much of the castle, it is still well worth a visit only to see the views. You may see the foundations of churches, prisons, and other structures as you explore the grounds. Bohali Castle is conveniently located just off the main road through Bochali Village, making it easy to reach. Parking is available directly outside, although there aren't a ton of spaces; on busy days, you might even have to pull over to the side of the road.

At night, Bohali
Come to Bohalli village for a fun night out and take in the breathtaking view of Zante town illuminated by millions of lights. While taking in breathtaking views of Zakynthos's capital, unwind at a coffee shop or restaurant in the town center. Stop in the plaza for some food, coffee, or a drink while you take in the stunning surroundings as you meander through its charming, winding streets dotted with old buildings. The Chrysopigi church, with its lofty bell tower, is to the left of the square. If you like, you can take the cobblestone path that starts in the plaza.
