The Venetian Castle of Bohali

For hundreds of years, the Venetians ruled Zakynthos, and the Mediterranean empire undoubtedly left its mark. This hilltop park is the ideal location for leisurely strolls or breathtaking photo opportunities. Even when it was looted by rival Turks or destroyed by natural disasters, they frequently made modifications and renovations to the fortress, which was built in the 15th century atop the island's historic acropolis. Archaeological excavations at the ruins are still revealing remnants of the island's past today. Although there isn't much left because the most of the castle was damaged by the Ionian earthquake in 1953, it's still worth a visit for the views alone. As you go about the grounds, you'll find the ruins of jails, churches, and other buildings. It's rather simple to get to Bohali Castle because it's right off the main road that runs through Bochali Village. There is parking right outside, but there aren't many spots, so it can become busy and you may have to park on the side of the road.
